Get Your Summer On!

Its that time of year again when we fire up the barbeque, dust off the picnic table and break out the watermelon!

I love what summertime is all about:
 the long, lazy days,
the lighter food
 and entertaining more.

You may remeber this from last year. This is one of my favorite easy peasy decorations to put together. I save a few jars in mismatched sizes, fill with sand and a tealight and wrap ribbons and wired garlands around the lip. Sometimes I add a piece of heavy wire to create a handle. I put a few on the tables on my deck but always line my fron entry way with them to set the mood for guests.

I also like to string clear Christmas lights around the deck's railing for more mood setting effects!

I love the color palette used for this tablesetting, so bright and cheery! You can find more inspiration from Better Homes & Gardens.com

A Near Cat-astrophe & a Giveaway

Oh what a week it has been! As I sat down to write this post I realised this is the 100th! That calls for a celebration dont ya think? Let me fill you in on whats been going on around here first....

Isnt this box sooo cute? I bought this from Amber at Black Rooster Cottage a few weeks ago and never got around to posting all the goodies I bought. I had just got started taking pictures when I heard a little meow.
Well back on Mother's Day our plumbing was out and the plumber was here for 2 days trying very hard to get us up and running. You may also remember I had a little trip to the hospital and my sweet cat Misty (of the great cat rescue fame)had been keeping me company while I was recovering.
And then she was gone!
We thought a coyote had got her and didnt even think to look under the house after the plumber was gone, duh!
She was under there an entire week! I feel just awful but thankfully she is fine and quite grateful to be back on my bed!
Then my son hit his head and we had a little trip to Urgent Care and of course my husband was out of town and his cell phone completely died.
That's my very typical life. On the days when nothing crazy or unexpected goes on, I am very thankful!

Oh I almost forgot...

Look at who showed up to visit. YUCK! Insert squeal here! my husband said it is just a gopher snake and nothing to worry about. Of course the boys had to watch it and I was there somewhat curious but mostly feeling like Eve in the Garden! Just watching those things move around is creepy. I have stories for another time. What he she it was after was in here...

...a bird's nest. Once I discovered what it was up to I decided I didn't need a National Geographic "when animals attack" moment and went in the house!

On to the giveaway fun! Since blogland means making friends, cheering for each other and inspiring creativity I think it would be wonderful to enter the name of a friend that has touched your life.
I'll make it easy peasy.

1.Leave a comment on this post only with your friend's name and
what you love about her.
2. PLEASE keep it brief.
3. Comments will close on Saturday, May 29th @6:00p.m pacific time. Shipping is to the continental U.S. only.
4. Winner will be determined by random drawing. You and your friend will win a prize!

Whats the prize? Dont you just love a SURPRISE?! I do. I promise it wont be junk ;)
It might be an apron  or a teacup or a sweet little dish. It may be whatever you wish!

I will post the winner on sunday afternoon with a picture of the loot!

New Friend, New Blog

Come on over Blogettes!
photo: Black Rooster Cottage
Come meet Amber of  Black Rooster Cottage. These amazing eggs are from her hens. I think I want an omlette! I recently met Amber because of our favorite magazine, Romantic Homes. She is so much fun and nothing holds this girl back! We all have a lot in common with her because like her we are busy moms that love to decorate, garden, and squeeze creativity into our day. So hop on over and say hello. Oh yeah, she broke her arm last week so please wish her well!
You'll get a look at her hens and garden and maybe we can get her to share her eggs!

I left her a funny hen story about my husband on the comments too!

Thanks again for all the well wishes. I am much better today and I think by monday I might be normal back to my old self! Oh yeah, "normal" is a setting on the washing machine.

Have a great saturday!

Hanging on

I'm still here, just stuck!
Thank you bloggettes for your well wishes. I am hanging on. Its been a little more difficult of a recovery than I expected.
While I was in the recovery room the nurse kept saying to me,"You've got to breathe!"

Oh, I guess I forgot to do that, lol!

Apparently I was given Fentanyl along with the anesthesia. Ive never heard of it but my nurse said its very, very strong and it was causing me to have a extremely slow and shallow breathing.
All in all I'm ok~ just waiting for all the junk to get out of my system and then Im sure I will be back to my typical, hectic and sometimes crazy life!

This laying in bed is for the birds! So boring!

Thanks again for visiting me.

~Hugs to all of you~

Wish I was here

I couldn't decide whether to tell you blogettes...

Some things are kinda personal...

Well, I wish I was going to be at this creek tomorrow but...

I have a wee little health issue to deal with so I will be at the hospital. It's not a big deal but I am really nervous about the whole thing.
I dont like going "under". Its really kinda freaky ya know?

I hope all of you had a wonderful Mother's Day. My family took me out for brunch which was so good. I am so grateful because once again our plumbing is backed up. Yep. We have a huge issue with tree roots growing into the septic line. gross!
I enjoyed reading your posts but I culdn't finish the rounds since I had to go grocery shopping. I know, its Mother's Day and I should have passed this job to my hubby but I needed to get out of the house and keep busy.

I knew I would need something fabulous to read while recovering so I visited
The Beautiful Life and ordered a copy of the newVakre Hjem. I cant wait to see it. I'm promised it is pure eye candy, yum!

Thank you for letting me share with you.

An Important Day

photo from mommylife.net

I just came in from church and was thinking about our country and all that we have to be grateful for. This IS NOT the part where I get on a soapbox and I am not interested in arguing religion or politics.

I am simply very thankful for all we have as individuals such as our liberties

for my family and friends and  being loved

for the safetly of our home

And for the sovereignty of our country.

I am thankful that men and women I dont even know keep me safe.

That every night when I tuck my children into bed,

Someone, somewhere is on watch

and that someone is being watched over by our Heavenly Father.

As you read this, take a moment to give thanks and to pray for our Leaders, Servicemen,

Policemen and Firefighters and to remember what we have.

May God bless you and your family today and always

as we remember "The National Day of Prayer".

Springtime

Nurture: v. 1. to feed and protect.

2. to support and encourage.

This weekend I did not work! I decided to "feed my soul" and "protect my mental health"!

I spent saturday at Tom's Farms with my family then we went to Temecula for a mini flea at the Maurice Car'rie Winery where I got to "support and encourage" my friend Amber of Black Rooster Cottage.
This girl is so sweet and spunky!
Oh my the treasures I bought from her. I will be posting my finds soon.

I took the "nurture" picture after cleaning my front entry and potting bench. Ok, so I worked a little. But it was the good kind of work! Sometimes tinkering with things gives you a fresh outlook.

Have a great day everyone!
